Perth Guide
Perth is located at the very heart of Scotland and has a population of about 43,000. It was a "Large Town / Small City" winner at Britain in Bloom eight times between 1995 and 2008.
It was for many years the effective capital of Scotland and even now lies at the very heart of Scotland's transport network. All of Scotland's six cities are signposted here thanks to the M90, A9 and A90. The M90 in Perth is the most northerly stretch of motorway in the UK.
The town is home to St Johnstone FC, so named because of Perth's former name, St John's Town. St Johnstone were promoted back into the Scottish Premier League for 2009/10.
