Scottish Country Sports Hotel of the Year 2008

Ballathie House Hotel has been awarded the Scottish Country Sports Hotel of the Year, one of the top accolades at this year’s Scottish Hotel of the Year Awards.

The event, which took place on Sunday 24 February 2008, is the biggest annual gathering of Scottish hoteliers with over 500 guests attending and attracting almost 25,000 online votes - making it the biggest ever public vote on hotels in the UK.

Ballathie's General Manager Chris Longden commented: "We are absolutely delighted to win this award. Ballathie is renowned for its accessibility to the best in country sports and to have this recognised in an award voted for by the public is indeed an honour. I believed we were in with a good chance because of our year-round commitment to country sports with Tay salmon fishing (literally at the bottom of the garden) from January to October and shooting on the Ballathie estate from October to January."

Ballathie offers four star accommodation, plus the Sportsman's Lodge, and provides fish freezers, a rod room, drying room, gun safes and game storage facilities. The hotel has its own fishing with full time ghillies and in January and February offers a 'free fishing' promotion package for resident guests. The Ballathie Estate 'destination' has recently been enhanced by the addition of its own farm shop and Country Cafe which has game, beef and pork from the estate and other locally sourced produce for sale. Although Ballathie House is now a year round business looking after tourism, conference and wedding guests it has continued to provide and enhance the provision of facilities and accommodation for sporting guests in association with the unique 2000 acre Ballathie Estate.
