BALLATHIE HOUSE HOTEL RECEIVES EATSCOTLAND SILVER AWARD

EatScotland has awarded Ballathie House Hotel with the Silver Award for high standards in Scottish dining.  The announcement comes as part of the launch of the organisation's much-anticipated Silver & Gold Award Scheme, which promises to raise the bar in Scotland's eating out scene and boost perceptions of Scottish cuisine worldwide.

Ballathie House Hotel has earned the Award in recognition of its creative dishes which combine traditional Scottish cooking with a modern twist.  The Perthshire hotel, which dates back to the 17th century, impresses with its elegant ambience and welcoming atmosphere.  The hotel, which has earned a string of awards for its restaurant, is also committed to sourcing quality local ingredients.

EatScotland Director and Award-winning Chef Kevin MacGillivray said:  "I am delighted to see Ballathie House Hotel receive the EatScotland Silver Award as recognition of an example of great cuisine and an enjoyable eating out experience in Scotland.

"The Silver & Gold Award scheme marks a real step forward for the Scottish food and drink industry as a whole.  The scheme will reward our most innovative and quality driven establishments with the recognition they deserve, be they the local tea room or Michelin Star restaurant, and at the same time provide an incentive across the industry to strive to improve standards."

The EatScotland Award Scheme is set to assess hundreds of Scottish restaurants, cafes and take-aways on their cuisine, innovation and use of fresh, local ingredients, as well as décor, cleanliness and service.

As a Silver Award holder, Ballathie House Hotel will now qualify to be considered for a Gold Award, which will reflect the highest standards of excellence in dining out north of the border.

Kevin MacGillivray added:  "I am committed to ensuring this scheme will prove a key factor in EatScotland's long term role of raising the bar for the food & drink industry in Scotland, which I feel will in turn improve enjoyment across the board to all who enjoy eating out in Scotland, be that its inhabitants, or some 17 million annual visitors who visit."

Eat Scotland is a comprehensive guide to eating & drinking in Scotland, which was launched by VisitScotland with the remit of promoting the best of Scottish food & drink.
